What frequently works for me is something that is very affordable, but of decent quality. Enter the new Bluehost $4.95 special. This promotional offer is good for 2012; thus far.
More Than One Fish In The Sea
Heck there’s more than one fish in just this lake alone! Since in reality, Bluehost is actually Endurance International Group owned, it keeps company with Fast Domain and Host Monster (sister companies) which share nearly two million domains collectively and, as web hosts go, is one of the biggest in the top 20. Last year the hosting company’s CEO Matt Heaton (also the company’s founder) decided about midway through the year that he would step down and hand the reins over to the new CEO Dan Handy. Though in 2009 and early last year (before the CEO switch) Bluehost did receive some negative press they have managed to come back and laid claim to their own ‘domain’ (as it were).
Is Bluehost Alone At The Top?
Bluehost is all but alone on the list of best web hosts, though it does remain number one. In direct competition are inmotion; HostRocket.com; lunarpages; webhostingpad; SiteGround; midphase.com; HostGator; hostmonster; and ixwebhosting. They all have different prices as well as surprisingly different services offered. Disk space ranges all the way from a measly 5GB to unlimited and all but one of these webhosting services offers at least one free domain. All but one also offers at least a 30 day money back guarantee (not the same host). The certifications of these web hosts is what seems to differ the most. What falls under the certifications column is as follows: TrustE; HackerSafe and BBBOnline. The simple answer to each is yes or no. I won’t go into which webhosts offer which certifications; but I will say that offering or not offering one or the other is anything but consistent.
Some of the other differences in web hosts are whether or not setup is free; data transfer (as with disk space) ranged from 1500 GB to unlimited with only one of the top 10 web hosts NOT being unlimited; and of course scores and reviews can be found online to help you make your decision in discovering the webhost that will best fit your wants and needs. It’s all about the website after all and you might as well take advantage of the Internet when it comes to these reviews. It could mean the difference between you getting sucked into a nasty webhost or being happy in the domain of your choice.
